“Overcoming Obstacles”

This Sunday we’ll continue our “Journey With Joshua” as we focus our attention on a familiar story from Joshua 6.  I hope you’ll take the time before Sunday to read that chapter, noting particular aspects in the story related to overcoming obstacles. I think it would be a great idea to sit down as a family to read the story of Jericho and ask each member of your family to respond to this simple question – What do we learn about God from this story? Jericho represents any obstacle that hinders or impedes our spiritual growth; anything that keep us from becoming more and more like Jesus.  Your Jericho might be a recurring sin, fear, bitterness, a disappointment, a sickness, unbelief, or pride. The story of Jericho is a story of hope!  The fact Jericho fell gives us hope that our strongholds will too!  In addition, we find hope in the fact God uses our Jerichos to further develop our faith.  To conquer our Jerichos we must look to God, following His strategy, and obey His Word.
