“From Here to There”

“How do I get from here to there?” Dieters ask that questions as they devise a plan to reach their desired weight.  Athletes ask that question before they create a plan to help them move to the next level in their sport.  Travelers ask that question as do students attending college.  How do I get from here to there? I think it’s a question any follower of Jesus ought to be asking because spiritual growth requires thought, a process, and a plan.  Maybe that’s why so many Christians fail to experience ongoing spiritual growth. This coming Sunday, we’ll start a new series we’re calling, “Journey With Joshua.”  I’m really excited about this series because it’s going to help all of us better determine how to get from where we are spiritually to where God wants us to be. My first message will come from Joshua 1 where God commands Joshua to do three things in order to move from where he was (beside the Jordan River in the Sinai Wilderness) to where God wanted him to be (Canaan or The Promised Land). These three commands serve as a road map for any believer who wants to get from where they are spiritually to where God wants them to be.  As you read that first chapter, see if you can identify the three commands we’ll look at on Sunday.
