“Choosing to Serve God Wholeheartedly”

In our series, “Journey with Joshua,” we’ve covered about 25 years of Israel’s history from Joshua Chapter 1 to Joshua Chapter 24.  At the end of the book we find Joshua on his deathbed.  However, even though he’s 110 years old, he’s still calling the Israelites to wholeheartedly serve the Lord. I hope you’ll take the time to read Joshua 24:14-24 before Sunday to familiarize yourself with the story we’ll be considering. The key verse, of course, is verse 15 where God tells the Israelites to “…choose today whom you will serve.” The call to serve God is the call to put God first, not because of the things He can give us or do for us, but simply because of who He is. A good question for all of us to ponder as we gather for worship on Sunday is this one – Why do I serve God?  Our answer to that question will tell us a lot about our faith – that is, whether it’s genuine or it’s nominal. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! pastor jamie
