“Thy Kingdom Come”

From early childhood, we’re trained to think life revolves around us.  As a matter of fact, our fallen condition convinces us we’re at the center of the universe.  Only God’s grace can help us break free from such a notion. As a result of our natural inclination, we make our wants and desires paramount.  Further, we make the preservation and promotion of self our primary agenda. If we maintain such a view, we’ll eventually assume we’re the captain of our own souls and the determiner of our own destinies.  Moreover, we’ll give our greatest effort to building our personal kingdoms rather than God’s. But when we receive our new birth at salvation, everything is supposed to change.  From that point forward, our lives are to revolve around God and, when they do, we’ll renounce our independence, we’ll enthrone Jesus as Lord, and we’ll seek God’s will for our lives. This is what Jesus was talking about when He told us to pray for God’s kingdom to come. I hope you’ll take the time to read Matthew 6:9-13 several times before you get to church on Sunday.  As you do, ponder the phrase “Thy kingdom come” and ask yourself, on a personal level, what that means and what that looks like. Hope to see you Sunday! pastor jamie
