“Hallowed Be Thy Name”

To “hallow” God’s name is to make Him preeminent and superior to anything and anyone else in our lives.  In teaching us how to pray, Jesus told us to ask that God’s name would be hallowed in our lives. When we hallow God’s name, we rightly reflect Him to a watching world.  And when people see Him properly reflected, they are attracted and drawn to Him. We’ve been called, as the followers of Jesus, to not only be a light to the nations but also to our neighbor across the street.  Being such a light begins when we hallow God’s name. As you prepare for church this coming Sunday, I hope you’ll pray the prayer we call The Lord’s Prayer.  As you do, give careful consideration to every word and phrase.  Ask God to give you greater insight as you pray the prayer he’s given us.

Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:9-13)

I’ll see you Sunday! pastor jamie
