“A Father’s Blessing”

To all the imperfect fathers of Faith Family, I believe God has given me a message of encouragement for us this coming Sunday.  A message that will help us in our desire to influence our kids toward Christ no matter what their age. If you’re not a dad, no worries; Sunday’s message is for you too, because what I’m going to talk about is relationships. I hope you’ll read Genesis 49:1-28 before Sunday.  In this part of the story, a dying father, named Jacob, gathers his twelve sons so he can bless each one with a fitting message. Interestingly, the word “bless” or “blessing” occurs over 400 times in the Bible, yet we often use it without really knowing what it means. To “bless” someone means to grant them a special favor, to extend them mercy, or to provide them with a benefit that meets a need or brings them happiness (fulfillment).  This is what I believe God intends when Christian fathers bless their children. I look forward to seeing all of you dads on Father’s Day as we discover three practical ways to bless our kids. See you Sunday, pastor jamie
