“Be Serious”

For the next three weeks, we’ll be doing a sermon series from the Book of Proverbs.  We’re calling the series – “Wisdom” or “Wis-Dumb?”  We believe this series will help all of us live lives that are more biblically-informed. The book of Proverbs presents us with two paths or two ways of living in this world.  One path leads to goodness and life while the other leads to destruction and death. A path suggests we’re moving toward a final destination and our journey’s endpoint will be determined by the path we choose to follow today. That’s why the Book of Proverbs is so important.  It’s literally a road map for our journey. A proverb is a divine rule intended to govern or direct our lives.  The Proverbs weren’t written for inspiration, like the psalms; they were written for application.  As the Roman lawyer, Cicero, once said, “The function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil.”  That’s why this series is so important.  All of us need to learn how to discern the difference between “wisdom” (logic that corresponds to God’s Word) and “Wis-Dumb” (logic that conflicts with God’s Word). I hope you can join us this Sunday as we get this exciting series underway.  In preparation for Sunday’s message, I hope you’ll take the time to read Proverbs 2:1-6. Journeying on, pastor jamie
