“Reboot: Failure Isn’t Final”

Computers are wonderful when they work!  But they’re awful when they don’t.   When my computer locks-up or my TV receiver freezes, I just hit the power button and perform what’s known as a “hard reboot.”  Usually, that’s all it takes and the once demon-possessed machine starts working again. All of us are like our computers:  in order to recover from a spiritual error or life failure, we need to be spiritually rebooted from time to time. Failure is one of the ugly realities of life and it’s common to all of us.  We fail as parents, as children, as husbands, as wives.  It was Teddy Roosevelt who once observed, “The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.” One of the things I appreciate about the Bible is that it doesn’t gloss over the failures of its characters.  We get to see King David as both a spiritual hero and as a spiritual zero.  We watch him triumph and we watch him fail. In reading about the failures of God’s people we learn something even more important about God – He is redemptive and can write an amazing comeback story.  At the heart of the Gospel lies this truth – “Failure isn’t final.”  We have a God who specializes in using our failures for His glory! I hope you can join us this Sunday as we kick-off 2018 with a new sermon series we’re calling – “Reboot: Failure Isn’t Final!” In preparation for Sunday’s message, please take the time to read John 18:15-18 and 18:25-27. Ready to reboot, pastor jamie
