“Strengthen Your Core”

In case you didn’t know it, core training is the rage today. Those seeking a new level of physical fitness are encouraged to focus their greatest attention on strengthening their core because the core is the foundation of all bodily movements. The importance of a strong core became apparent to me recently as I struggled with excruciating lower back pain.  My doctor told me my problem developed over a long period of time due to a weak core.  He went on to tell me that any hope for long-term improvement was directly related to my willingness to strengthen my physical core. There are many parallels between a strong physical core and a strong spiritual core, just as there are many parallels between a weak physical core and a weak spiritual core. A weak core, whether it’s physical or spiritual, will always lead to complications and problems. That’s why I believe this new sermon series, “Strengthen Your Core,” is an important one as we get 2019 underway. As you prepare your heart for Sunday, I hope you’ll take the time to prayerfully consider Ephesians 3:16, where Paul encourages the believer to strengthen his or her spiritual core.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with His inner strength through His Spirit.

In conjunction with our “Strengthen Your Core” series, we’re also offering an exercise class here at the church on Thursday nights from 7 to 8 pm.  The class is open to those who are 6th grade an older and will be led by Mackenzie Wells, a professional trainer.  Be sure to bring your exercise mat if you have one. Hoping to see you on Sunday and Thursday, pastor jamie
