“Pointing Others to Christ”

I love the All in the Family TV episode where Archie Bunker dreams of becoming a member of “The Cannonballers,” the best bowling team in the local league. He wants to be on the team so badly he can taste it.  In great detail, he describes their bowling shirts: All silk, with bright red piping on the collar and sleeves and on the back was a picture of a cannon firing bowling balls at a set of pins.  Archie says, “When you got something like that on your back, Edith, you know you’re somebody.” Of course, it’s all satire but the episode does raise a good question – Who are you and where do you find your identity? This coming Sunday we’re going to look at John the Baptist because he knew two important things about himself:

He knew who he WAS and he knew who he WASN’T!

Please take the time before Sunday to read a portion of John the Baptist’s story found in John 1:19-34.  As you read, ask yourself this question – Is my life pointing others to Christ? Seeking to decrease so that Christ may increase, pastor jamie
