“Risk is Required”

This Sunday many of us are going to be focused on one big game. But before turning your attention to that game, I would ask you to consider another one. Over the next four weeks we will look at classic board games and use them to illustrate a truth about our spiritual journeys. As you may have already guessed by the logo at the top and the sermon title, we will be using the game of Risk as our illustration this week. In the game of Risk it is the goal of each player to dominate the globe. In order to do this you must fight to gain territories against all the other players in the game. As your territory grows so does the number of troops you gain each turn. Eventually there comes a point in the game where one player has more power than the other players and is able to defeat them all. However this only comes if the player is willing to take great risks and attack other players even when they aren’t assured victory. Risk is required in order to win the game of Risk. Over the past 10 years of following Christ, I have learned this is also true of our spiritual lives. Risk is required in order to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. This weekend we will explore what the scriptures have to say about the element of “risk” in our walks with the Lord and ask the question, “are we taking the risks we need to in order to win?” I am looking forward to kicking off this new series we are calling The Games We Play, and I am praying that God will use these next four weeks to challenge us in our walk with Him. God Bless, Pastor Clayton Kreisel
