“Mythbusters”

Have you ever watched the TV show Mythbusters I love that show!  It uses elements of the scientific method to test the validity of old wives tales, myths and popular beliefs.  One of my favorite episodes was called A Full Holiday Meal Under the Hood.” Here’s the myth questioned… Can you put a full holiday meal in the engine compartment of a car and drive long enough to fully cook all the food? To test the myth, a vintage V8 Cadillac was used. It was fitted with temperature sensors and then driven for 90 minutes.  The sensors measured temperatures between 200 °F and 500 °F which seemed perfect.  But would it cook food? The food was placed in metal containers and put under the hood.  The Caddy was driven for four hours, stopping occasionally to check the food temperatures and to re-position dishes in order to prevent overcooking. They had previously agreed that if, at their final destination, the turkey wasn’t cooked satisfactorily, they’d consider the myth “busted.” So how do you think it turned out?  I hope you can be in church Sunday when I reveal the answer! Our series, “Make Him Known,” is based on 2 Timothy 4:5 – But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. It’s that third phrase we’ll focus on this coming Sunday as we put four popular myths regarding evangelism to the test.  It’s going to be a great morning! pastor jamie
