“Judging Correctly”

Last Sunday I asked, “Who made you the judge?” and identified eight ways to tell whether or not we’re judgmental.  Let’s review those quickly. You know you’re judgmental if…

  • You’re angry at the sins of others but not embarrassed by your own.
  • You refuse to forgive.
  • You delete those with whom you disagree.
  • You gossip about other’s faults.
  • You refuse to receive criticism.
  • You judge others by their appearance.
  • You leave no room for people to make mistakes.
  • You write people off as a hopeless cause.

This coming Sunday we’ll ask – “How can I be sure to judge correctly?”  We’ll focus on Jesus’ words in John 7:24 when he said, “Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly.”  Jesus affirms two things with this statement:  first, there are times when judgment is permissible and; two, there’s a correct way and an incorrect way to judge. Do you judge “correctly?”  Not sure?  Then I hope you can be with us as we dig deeper into this important subject. Still digging, pastor jamie
