Dear Friends,
"In fact, I don't understand why I act the way I
do. I don't do what I know is right. I do the things I hate. "
There it is in a nutshell: the believer’s ongoing struggle within.
The Apostle Paul was explaining the spiritual battle believers wage against
their flesh and/or the insurgency of the enemy.
This Sunday, as I continue
my series on God's Empowering Presence, I'll place this struggle front
and center. Beyond identifying the struggle, I will share what the Bible
says we can do to win the struggle in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says there is
nothing new under the sun. In other words, the sin struggles believers
fight today are the same sin struggles believers fought two thousand years
ago. As a matter of fact, Paul lists some of these sin struggles in
Galatians 5:19-21. Take a read, it's a little depressing!
"People's desires make them give in
to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds. They worship idols,
practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become
jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they
are envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things
as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these
things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom."
If you've got a sin struggle
going on within, you will find great hope in what this coming Sunday morning is
all about! We'll talk in real terms and we'll present real answers.
God wants you and me to win the struggle within and that's why He has provided
all we need to do it. See you Sunday!
Fighting on through His
grace,
pastor jamie
